Caught with my pants down

We decided to take the kids in the chariot with the bikes down to see the horses. First there was an adventure down a really steep slope. Then we ended up on the wrong side of the train tracks. Then another really steep slope upwards. Then when we arrive the horses are far away and Adlai tells us, "oh oh." Oh oh is what he says when he poops. And oh oh is what we said because it was a blow out of sizable proportions. Poop right down his pants all the way to his brand new shoes. We changed him as he stood up along the path, much to the amusement of the passersby out for a lovely Sunday stroll. We had no spare pants or a change mat.

Three curious horses did come to see what all the commotion was about and the kids were able to help feed them some grass. So the journey was not entirely a bust.

Zurbert

The kids went for a boat ride through the living room in their little brown box.

When Daddy came home Kaya decided that Adlai needed a zurbert. A really big one. She only wanted a very little zurbert.

Kaya received a lollipop as a reward for dry diapers overnight. Much to my surprise, Adlai is potty training himself because he wants to do everything that Kaya does. He can now pee on the potty and asks to go, saying "pee." He also tears off sheets of toilet paper and shoves them into the potty too.

Mist

We had a great 4 days camping. We came heart-skippingly close to hitting a deer on our way home but thankfully all was avoided. Our little car does a great job of packing up two toddlers, a dog, a tent-trailer and all our gear. We do, however, receive very funny looks from the SUVs on the highway.

Morning walk

Adlai awoke so early and the morning was so chilly that I took him for a short walk to warm up.

When it warmed up in the afternoon Kaya decided to apply her own sunblock.

The kids take playing very seriously. Whenever they could they would take us to the park or ask to swing.

The lake

The kids encouraged Kona to swim in the lake and after much thought, Kona decided her desire for the tennis ball outweighed her fear of the water.

Hand in hand

Daddy and Adlai stayed up late and talked in the camp chairs.

Kaya and Adlai took their first walk hand in hand down the dirt road,

carrying golf clubs,
companionably walking back to the campsite.

Sibbald

We found a beautiful site at Sibbald. Kaya and Adlai now take turns walking Kona, the world's most patient dog.

Adlai has developped a rock fascination. He has at least one rock in each hand the majority of the time that he is outside. Here he is showing off his rocks to Daddy and Mommy. Our budding little geologist.

Grandma Maihaa braved it in the tent and had a good time teaching Kaya about the local flora.
