Pool
It was a rare 30 degree day and the kids attacked the pool. Adlai a bit more so than Kaya. Note the tongue sticking out and legs flying sideways. He was not terribly perturbed by face fulls of water upon landing and would bounce off the edge of the pool on exits.
I got out for a short walk after sunset. The canola fields were right next to a beautiful blue flax field but the flax flowers are so fleeting that they were gone by the evening. A deer jumped through the yellow canola (if you look closely you can see it bounding away in the bottom shot).
Lambs
We braved the poop (Kaya's gumboots protected her feet but not Mommy and Grandma who got the brunt of it when we hoisted her and Adlai over the fences) to go see the bottle-fed lambs in the barn.
Adlai did not miss a beat and was happy to have the lambs lick his tiny fingers.

At the farm
The kids had a wonderful time in Grandma Jan's backyard. They were little slide fiends. Kaya spent some time exploring on top of the Dora the explorer playhouse while Adlai chased around footballs and soccer balls. He is highly ball oriented and surprised us by receiving a catch the other day.

Golfing and second haircut
Daddy was so proud of his son golfing in the backyard, holding the clubs and swinging.
Grandma Maihaa helped take Adlai for his second haircut. Kaya looked forward to the outing because she could play in the ball pit at Beaners. She now keeps saying Adlai's hair is getting long and he needs another cut.
Here is our little man showing off the new do.
Giddy
The kids were giddy when we came home from the haircut and I took out the camera for an "after" shot. They rarely stay still at the best of times but asking them to stay still is like asking them to dance, race around the living room, and bunny hop. So here they are dancing, racing around, and bunny hopping - if you look closely, Adlai's two feet are both off the ground.

skinny dipping
It was, apparently, a weekend of semi-naked toddlerhood. We took the kids for a picnic with friends at the outdoor wading pool. They splashed, they rolled down the hill, they led marches into the trees, they made the picnic table their fort and, after dinner, Kaya watched as her friends went skinny dipping. She listened so well when we told her we had to go home but when she pressed her face up to the chain link fence and longingly said, "Mommy, I wish I was swimming again too" my heart melted and we let Kaya and then Adlai go swimming again in the buff.
