My first vegetable

Adlai was all ready to go in the highchair. His first veggie was strained peas. It went over (not necessarily down) relatively well.

Kaya loved camping in the tent trailer.

Adlai and Patrick were pretty happy about being in the great outdoors as well.

Kaya enjoyed the view at the campsite.

As Kaya would say, "picture of Kaya and Adlai sitting together."

Pink babies

My two pink-hued kids in their Ikea tent in the backyard.

Adlai is 6 months old, weighs 17 pounds 6 ounces, and is 27 and 3/4 inches long. He is cutting his two bottom teeth and is rolling about with abandon. He can rock on hands and knees and has a strong set of vocal cords!

My little model, striking a pose for photos.

Uncle B attempted a nap but his niece and nephew wanted to join him on the couch.

Grandma Jan knows how to get Adlai chuckling.

Our first family camping trip

Adlai stayed warm in the tent trailer with his sleep sack and our portable electric heater.

Kaya and I went to check out the playground, eating cherries along the way.

If only we had trees big enough for a hammock in our yard!

Kaya had a wonderful time "swinging higher" thanks to Patrick's ingenuity.

Salutes and Stampede

Kaya and Patrick enjoy some down time...

and so does Adlai.

My happy little man.

Kaya likes to swing,

make forts,

and dance.

Adlai salutes us.

Kaya wanted to get in the basket after she saw Adlai sitting in the donut.

Kaya and Alexandra play in the sun and the water with Grandma Jan and Patrick.

Adlai's first Stampede breakfast.
Kaya was absolutely intent on her ride but now tells the story about how she rode "Bam-Bam" the pony.

She also enjoyed the petting zoo with Grandma Maihaa.

We had a behind the scenes tour of the chuckwagons.

Adlai jolly jumps for the first time.

Birthday and Father's Day

Kaya showed off her new little blue dress...

and her blueberry tongue, teeth, lips and fingers.

She is taking after the artists in the family.

Mommy's pineapple-upside-down birthday cake was a hit.

The rare whole-family shot.

Kaya takes Adlai for his first spin in the car.

Adlai is five months old now and trying to sit up. He loves to use his newfound voice and is making all manner of squeals.

Daddy and Kaya smile for the camera.

Grandpa holds the next generation on Father's Day.

We went for a beautiful walk under the bridge.

Kaya held Daddy's hand and watched the torrent of water rush by.

She loved the horses and animatedly recounts how they came up to see her at the fence.
