Shepards

Kaya and Grandma Jan head out to the barn to take care of the new lambs.

Kaya was quite proud of herself indeed. She fed the lambs with a little help from Grandma.

Twelve Mile Coulee

We went for a morning backpack hike into the ravine and the kids enjoyed a higher vantage point.

Hugs

Grandma Jan and Kaya share a hug at Allie's birthday party.

Meanwhile the boys manage the remote.

Adlai is getting at least 4 teeth at the same time but is his usual happy self.

Kaya takes the opportunity to relax in her "swimming pool."

Adlai's First Haircut

All in all it went much more smoothly than I had imagined. The poor guy was unsure of what was going on but sat in his little chair with a steering wheel and took it like a man.
The buzzing razor was an oddity but Adlai resigned himself to it after a few moments.

Here is his slightly concerned yet tolerant look.

The end product -- the spike stayed in for roughly 20 minutes but it was fun while it lasted!

the pink pirate

Auntie Jess sent Kaya a beautifully soft handmade robe with matching eye cover. Kaya kept asking what the eye patch was for and how she could use it. Initially she guessed it was a slipper. The parrot on Kaya's shoulder is a favorite with the kids. Grandma Jan decided a few Christmases ago that Patrick should not be without a parrot in his life. This parrot sings, talks, dances, repeats phrases, likes to be pet and demands food. It is light and motion sensitive. I have inadvertently used it to frighten Patrick out of his skin when he walks into a darkened room and turns on a light only to be greeted with a loud "whatcha doing?"

Harley driving drummer

Daddy and Kaya decided to make tough faces while they rode their Harley (the excercise bike) through the room.

Kaya then got down to business playing her new drums.

Auntie Bille, Uncle Ryan and Natasha sent Kaya a great rain jacket covered with horses. Kaya declares, "Kaya likes horses."
